This is a video entry for the MU Bookstore - I Don’t Hate the Bookstore Film Festival. The goal of the event is to: increase awareness about the price of educational materials; to inform the campus about University Bookstore’s efforts to reduce the costs of textbooks; to provide students with an opportunity to produce their own public service announcement; and for students to receive campus-wide recognition for their efforts. The winning PSA will be shown at University Bookstore.

Textbooks are expensive. You know it and we know it. What most people don’t know is that the University Bookstore does not determine the cost of textbooks. There are many factors that influence the price of textbooks, as well as the availability of used textbooks and the amount of money you receive when you sell your textbook back to the bookstore. Many students also do not know the role they can play in reducing the cost of their textbooks. What better way to get this information out than to enlist your help? Not only would you be helping us to get the word out about textbook prices, you could also benefit by winning the film festival’s grand prize: a $500 University Bookstore gift certificate.
